Buttermilk Pound Cake
February 21st, 2008 | by JanetThis is what I consider a true, melt in your mouth pound cake. As in the picture, you can serve it with fudge sauce, but it also goes great with ice cream and fruit.
Buttermilk Pound Cake
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 tsp. baking soda
3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 Tbls. vanillaStir the baking soda into the buttermilk. (It will rise so you want to use a container larger than a one-cup measuring cup.) In a mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time and mix until it becomes lighter.
Alternating, add the flour and the buttermilk mixture to the batter and beat slowly. Add the vanilla. Bake in a prepared (buttered and floured) Bundt pan for 1 to 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees until it pulls away from the edge and is golden brown on top.
